Hello good people! I was chatting with a Body of Knowledge Weekly client yesterday about a sticky issue. Not an intractable issue! Just ... no traction YET.

So I asked her to take a piece of paper, draw a line down the middle, and make two lists. I don't like "tools" very much, but this one is too simple to annoy me. On one side: Everything she'd tried in the past that had worked. On the other, everything she wanted to do to toward her goal, or was at least willing to do.

Then: circle the intersections.

You can do this too. It's similar to an exercise from BJ Fogg's book, which is worthwhile, but the TL;DR is: your sweet spot of leverage is the overlap between what's EFFECTIVE, and what you will actually DO, without the need for motivation, willpower (ugh), trauma, religious conversion, etc. The easy stuff, like what you would be prepared to do on a random sunny Tuesday.

Here's some overlap for me: I'm starting to hear from people who've done the No More Binges course that

1. they really, really liked it and it totally helped them break the spell of bingey eating
2. they would now really, really like some help with losing weight

So that'll be our next project, and the subject of some weekly updates. We will just go straight at it. How to lose weight. (If you have feelings about this, hit me.)

1. What's effective?
2. What do you want to do?
3. Where's the intersection? <β€”START THERE
